Lord Daniel Finkelstein

Lord Daniel Finkelstein is a British journalist and politician. He is a former executive editor of The Times and remains a weekly political columnist. He has been named Political Columnist of the Year four times at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards.
Before joining the paper in 2001, he was adviser to both the Prime Minister John Major and the Conservative Leader William Hague.
Prior to this, he was Director of the think tank The Social Market Foundation. He was also the Chairman of the Policy Exchange, an independent charity seeking free market and ‘localist’ solutions to public policy questions.
Daniel was elevated to the House of Lords in 2013, where he regularly sits as a Conservative.
He is Chair of the think tank Onward, and recipient of an OBE.
